Frequently Asked Questions

ATV Tours

What does the Alaskan Experience provide?

We provide the following for all tours:

  • ATV or Side By Side
  • Helmets with goggles or visor
  • Expert Guide
  • Safety Instruction

Full day and Multi Day excursions include additional amenities.

What should I bring?

 A smile!  We recommend:

  • Sturdy boots or closed toe shoes
  • Pants
  • Rain gear
  • Layers!  Temps can range from 30-100 degrees (check the weather!).
  • Snack
  • Water bottle
  • Phone/Camera with waterproof storage. Ziploc bags, and dry bags are available, each ATV also has waterproof storage racks.

What if I have never operated an ATV?

Don't book a tour.  Just kidding!  We love sharing our passion for ATV's and Alaska with first timers!  We will:

  • Explain the safety features, and general operation of the ATV.
  • Provide very easy 'practice' terrain to get used to your ATV.
  • Progress to more advanced terrain only if/when you are ready to do so.
  • When possible, we split groups by experience/ability to ensure all riders can have a good time on terrain that matches their experience.  We can also take more experienced riders on shorter '

How old do riders need to be?

Drivers should be 16 years or older and in good physical condition.    Riders age 8 and up, are welcome to join for a small additional cost to cover equipment cost, however must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Parents should use good judgement to determine if your child is able to safely ride on an ATV, as well as ensure that the operator is able to operate the ATV safely.  ATV's can be dangerous, parents assume all risk and liability with bringing little ones on an adventure.

What if I damage the ATV?

General wear and tear is expected.  If you are not comfortable operating the ATV over any terrain or obstacle, stop and turn your lights off, we will help you through any situation.  If you damage any of our equipment and it is not deemed normal wear and tear, you will be responsible for the repair or replacement cost of that equipment, at the discretion of The Alaskan Experience management.  We do collect a $500 refundable damage deposit per each ATV on tour.

What kind of terrain will we encounter?

This depends 100% on your experience, and the weather.  Experienced riders wishing to tackle advanced terrain, deep mud, and guarantees of needing that winch on the front will be granted that wish!  However, generally the terrain encountered will be matched to the least experienced rider in the group.

What if I need to cancel my trip?

Plans change, things happen, we get it.  Email or call and talk to us, we can likely work something out.

  •  If you cancel within 7 days you will forfeit your payment unless we are able to rebook your slot (we have a waitlist).
  • With 7 or more days notice you will generally recieve a refund.
  • Rentals returned early are not refunded unless we are able to rebook the unit with another guest, at the discretion of management.
  • We are reasonable, call us!
